WHEREAS, The city of Fort Worth lost a beloved community | ||
leader with the passing of Daniel M. Jensen on December 5, 2021, at | ||
the age of 66; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of Elwood and Elaine Jensen, Danny Jensen | ||
was born on July 24, 1955, and he grew up with the companionship of | ||
his brother, David; he graduated from Alamo Heights High School in | ||
San Antonio in 1973, and he went on to earn a bachelor's degree from | ||
Texas Tech University as well as a master's degree from Texas | ||
Christian University; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Jensen began his career with the Texas College | ||
of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of North Texas Health | ||
Science Center at Fort Worth in 1984, and he initially served as | ||
director of development and executive director of the foundation; | ||
in 1990, he became the vice president for governmental affairs for | ||
HSC, and he was later appointed the associate vice chancellor for | ||
governmental relations; over the course of his nearly four decades | ||
of service, he spearheaded legislative strategy that was central to | ||
the growth of a significantly larger and more diverse HSC; he played | ||
an instrumental role in gaining support for a number of new | ||
facilities on campus and for the establishment of the Graduate | ||
School of Biomedical Sciences, the School of Public Health, the | ||
School of Health Professions, and the UNT System College of | ||
Pharmacy; he collaborated with local, state, and federal officials | ||
as well as with other community leaders to advance HSC, the City of | ||
Fort Worth, and higher education in Texas; as part of HSC's 50th | ||
Anniversary, he was designated as one of the school's "50 Heroes"; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Jensen married Lynette Walker in 1983, and they | ||
were blessed with two children, Dane and Abigail; known for his | ||
jovial personality and big heart, he was a kind and caring father as | ||
well as a beloved friend, and he never missed an opportunity to | ||
express his gratitude to those who shared in his life; during his | ||
leisure hours, he enjoyed playing golf; and | ||
WHEREAS, Danny Jensen brightened the world for all who knew | ||
him with his wit, charm, and outgoing personality, and he left | ||
behind a legacy of service that his loved ones can remember with | ||
pride; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Daniel M. Jensen and | ||
extend sincere condolences to his family and friends; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Danny | ||
Jensen. | ||
