R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
  of Lewis Edwards Champ of Waco, who passed away on April 21, 2011,
  at the age of 94; and
         WHEREAS, Born in the Ellis County town of Italy to Lewis and
  Ima Edwards Champ on November 16, 1916, Lewis Champ served in the
  United States Navy during World War II; following his military
  service, he went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service and held the
  position of superintendent of mail at the Temple post office for 39
  years; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Champ married the former Grace Jackson, and the
  couple shared more than six decades together, until her passing in
  2002; they were blessed with two children, James and Jean;
  fortunate enough to find love again, Mr. Champ later enjoyed the
  love and support of his second wife, Lydia Croft; and
         WHEREAS, When he moved to Waco in 2003, Mr. Champ became a
  member of Waco First United Methodist Church; he had previously
  attended First United Methodist Church in Temple for many years;
  and
         WHEREAS, Lewis Champ possessed a generosity of spirit that
  expressed itself in myriad ways, and countless lives were forever
  enriched by his warmth and kindness; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Lewis Edwards Champ
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  wife, Lydia Champ; to his daughter, Jean Blasingame; to his son,
  James Champ; to his stepchildren, Cecil Clark and Elizabeth Coufal;
  to his brother, Joe Champ; to his five grandchildren, four
  great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; and to
  his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lewis
  Champ.
