| WHEREAS, The girls' track and field team of McGregor High | ||
| School won the District 15-2A championship with a fine showing in | ||
| the district meet on April 10, 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In capturing the title, the Lady Bulldogs benefited | ||
| from an outstanding performance by Latecia Irons, who won the | ||
| 200-meter dash, placed second in the long jump, and helped her | ||
| school to attain two relay triumphs; in the 400-meter race, she | ||
| joined with teammates VaRonika Loredo, Devon Norwood, and Kailyn | ||
| Harmel to claim the victory, and in the 1,600, she, Ms. Harmel, | ||
| Ashley Fehlman, and Samantha Lenamon were first across the finish | ||
| line; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Harmel placed second in the 100 hurdles while | ||
| Ms. Fehlman and Ms. Lenamon took second and third, respectively, in | ||
| the 800-meter competition; McGregor athletes were impressive in | ||
| several additional field events as well, with Ms. Lenamon earning | ||
| third place in the high jump, and Angela Rost finishing second in | ||
| the shot put and third in the discus; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Guided by head coach Stacy Ainsworth, the Lady | ||
| Bulldogs tallied a total score of 132 in the final team standings, | ||
| outpacing the second-place Crawford High squad by 13.5 points to | ||
| take home the trophy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Winning a district championship represents the | ||
| culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering | ||
| commitment to excellence, and the members of the McGregor girls' | ||
| track and field team may indeed take pride in this memorable | ||
| achievement; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the McGregor High School girls' | ||
| track and field team on winning the District 15-2A championship and | ||
| extend to the team's athletes and coaches sincere best wishes for | ||
| continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
