R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, A banner year for Bremond High School quarterback
Roshauud Paul culminated in his receipt of the 2016 Mr. Texas
Football High School Player of the Year Award, which was presented
by Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine and Wells Fargo at the
AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl on December 28; and
WHEREAS, During the 2016 football season, Mr. Paul burnished
his already stellar record with 2,892 yards rushing, 2,256 yards
passing, and 82 touchdowns; moreover, he was also a standout player
on defense, racking up over 50 tackles and 4 interceptions; he
piloted the Tigers to the University Interscholastic League Class
2A Division 2 final, where they extended their winning streak to 47
games and captured their third consecutive state championship while
Mr. Paul notched his third Offensive Most Valuable Player Award;
his other accolades include the 2016 Class 2A Offensive Player of
the Year award from the Texas Associated Press Sports Editors and
All-American Second Team honors from MaxPreps; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Paul graduated from Bremond High in December
2016; he has accepted an athletic scholarship from Texas A&M
University and will begin playing for the Aggies in 2017; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his high school career, Roshauud
Paul distinguished himself as one of the finest football players in
the Lone Star State and in the nation as a whole, and he is indeed
deserving of this coveted honor; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Roshauud Paul on earning the 2016
Mr. Texas Football High School Player of the Year Award from Dave
Campbell's Texas Football and Wells Fargo and extend to him sincere
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Paul as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
