R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Eddie Baker Freeman Jr.
  of Grand Prairie were deeply saddened by his death on May 17, 2023,
  at the age of 67; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Austin, Mr. Freeman was born to Nettie
  and Eddie Freeman Sr. on December 3, 1955, and he grew up with the
  companionship of two siblings, Nae and Kenneth; he graduated from
  Reagan High School in 1974 and went on to study at The University of
  Texas at Austin, where he joined the Eta Theta Chapter of Omega Psi
  Phi Fraternity, Inc.; he later earned bachelor's and master's
  degrees in finance from Dallas Baptist University; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his life, Mr. Freeman
  distinguished himself as a respected professional in a number of
  different fields, including banking, financial management, and
  higher education; he joined the Staubach Company as a controller in
  1990, and he eventually served as the vice president of finance and
  the vice president of diversity; he subsequently embarked on a
  career with The University of Texas at Arlington in 2008, and over
  the course of his 14-year tenure there, he served in the role of
  executive director for diversity, equity, and inclusion; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Freeman gave generously of his time and talents
  to numerous civic and professional organizations, such as the
  Omicron Gamma Gamma graduate chapter of Omega Psi Phi, Presbyterian
  Healthcare Foundation, the Higher Education Recruitment
  Consortium, the Grand Prairie Sports Corporation, and See It
  Through Charities; and
         WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Freeman enjoyed the love
  and support of his wife, Zelda, with whom he shared a fulfilling
  marriage that spanned more than four decades, and he took great
  pride in their children, Kathryn, Eddie, and Candace; a man of deep
  faith, he was a longtime congregant of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship,
  where he served as an elder and participated in the Christian
  education ministry; and
         WHEREAS, Eddie Freeman lived a life that was rich in personal
  and professional achievements, and he will forever be remembered
  with admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Eddie Baker Freeman
  Jr. and extend heartfelt sympathy to all those who mourn his
  passing; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Eddie
  Freeman.
