| WHEREAS, Lupe Silva was named the March 2011 McAllen Cancer | ||
| Fighter of the Month by the American Cancer Society; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Diagnosed with Stage III ovarian cancer in June | ||
| 2009, Ms. Silva quickly underwent surgery and, following her | ||
| recovery, began chemotherapy treatment; she has since undergone two | ||
| more surgeries, the last one in December 2010, and is again | ||
| completing a round of chemotherapy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, CT scans currently reveal Ms. Silva to be | ||
| tumor-free, though blood work shows the fight is not yet over, and | ||
| she and her doctors remain vigilant; still, she proudly counts | ||
| herself among the survivors; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through it all, Ms. Silva has drawn strength from | ||
| the love and prayers of her family and friends, and her unfaltering | ||
| courage has inspired all who know her; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Lupe Silva for being named the | ||
| March 2011 McAllen Cancer Fighter of the Month and extend to her | ||
| sincere best wishes for continued recovery; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Silva as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
