| WHEREAS, The Eagle Scout insignia is bestowed on those | ||
| members of the Boy Scouts of America who advance through the program | ||
| to its highest rank, and Jay Robert Kennedy of Houston may now count | ||
| himself a member of that select group; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The son of Robert and Colleen Kennedy, this Baylor | ||
| University freshman has mastered a number of important skills in | ||
| his quest to become an Eagle Scout; he has earned merit badges | ||
| requiring expertise in such diverse areas as first aid, personal | ||
| fitness, and environmental science, and he has gained experience in | ||
| leadership and teamwork while undertaking his Eagle Scout project, | ||
| which involved making and installing a pair of custom Texas | ||
| sandstone benches at the entrance to Fort Travis in Galveston; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A valued member of Boy Scout Troop No. 13 in | ||
| Houston, Mr. Kennedy has served his peers as a crew leader and | ||
| webmaster, and in so doing, he has exemplified the many positive | ||
| traits for which Boy Scouts are renowned; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In fulfilling the rigorous requirements for | ||
| attaining the Eagle Scout insignia, Jay Kennedy has demonstrated an | ||
| unwavering commitment to the Boy Scouts organization and its | ||
| ideals, and the knowledge and confidence he has acquired along the | ||
| way will indeed serve him well in the years to come; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Eagle Scout Jay Robert Kennedy on | ||
| achieving this prestigious rank and extend to him sincere best | ||
| wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Eagle Scout Kennedy as an expression of high regard by | ||
| the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
