| WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the | ||
| passing of Kenneth Allen Griffin of Katy on June 22, 2025, at the | ||
| age of 82; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The son of Walter Ethridge Dick Griffin and Athen | ||
| Allene Miller Griffin, Kenneth Griffin was born in Abilene on | ||
| August 5, 1942, and he grew up with three siblings, Richard, | ||
| Sharla, and Janis; his father's career in the military took the | ||
| family to numerous posts in the United States as well as Germany, | ||
| where he graduated from Stuttgart American High School; after | ||
| attending Hardin-Simmons University, he pursued his bachelor's | ||
| degree in history at the University of Houston; he was an | ||
| adventurous youth who enjoyed touring Europe, camping, hiking, | ||
| playing guitar, and exploring caves in Texas and Mexico as a member | ||
| of the National Speleological Society; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin worked at NASA during the Apollo program | ||
| in the late 1960s; subsequently embarking on a career as an | ||
| advertising and public relations executive, he was employed in the | ||
| oil and gas industry before establishing his own successful firm, | ||
| Griffin and Associates, in the late 1970s; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A devoted father, Mr. Griffin raised two children, | ||
| Rosalind and Travis, with his first wife, Mary Blackmon Griffin; he | ||
| created a solid foundation for his family and set an example through | ||
| his wisdom, strong character, and great kindness; following the end | ||
| of his marriage, he was fortunate enough to find love again, and he | ||
| wed Lynda Lindinger Griffin in 2012; they shared a fulfilling | ||
| relationship until her passing in 2019; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Griffin was a valued member of Second Baptist | ||
| Church-Woodway Campus, where he served as a deacon and as director | ||
| of the Endeavor Sunday school class; throughout his life, he loved | ||
| history, reading, and music, and he brightened the days of all | ||
| around him with his wonderful sense of humor; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Although Kenneth Griffin is deeply missed by those | ||
| he left behind, they will continue to find inspiration in his | ||
| unwavering commitment to faith, freedom, and the founding | ||
| principles of our nation; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 89th Texas | ||
| Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of | ||
| Kenneth Allen Griffin and extend sincere sympathy to the members of | ||
| his family: to his children, Rosalind Lea Griffin and Travis Miller | ||
| Griffin Sr. and his wife, Jennifer; to his grandchildren, Alena | ||
| Claire Griffin, Travis Miller Griffin Jr., Madison Rebecca Griffin, | ||
| and McKenzie Kay Griffin; to his former wife, Mary Blackmon | ||
| Griffin; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kenneth | ||
| Griffin. | ||
