WHEREAS, After a high school career rich in achievement, | ||
Marivel Holguin is graduating from the Texas School for the Deaf as | ||
a member of the Class of 2011; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Holguin earned a place on the Gold Honor Roll in | ||
9th and 10th grade and the Silver Honor Roll in 10th, 11th, and 12th | ||
grade; moreover, she is a recipient of the Citizenship Award and the | ||
Outstanding Student Award in reading, English, and math; and | ||
WHEREAS, A participant in the Bigger Faster Stronger weight | ||
training program, Ms. Holguin also took part in track, volleyball, | ||
basketball, wrestling, and cheerleading; in addition, her | ||
extracurricular activities included service on the prom committee, | ||
as class treasurer, and as vice president of the Hispanic Club, and | ||
she worked for the school's Deaf Smith Center and was treasurer and | ||
a delegate for the Junior National Association of the Deaf; she | ||
plans to attend Austin Community College following her graduation; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, In completing her education at the Texas School for | ||
the Deaf, Marivel Holguin has demonstrated a level of commitment | ||
that will continue to serve her well in the years ahead, and it is a | ||
pleasure to recognize her as she prepares to embark on an exciting | ||
new chapter in her life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Marivel Holguin on her graduation | ||
from the Texas School for the Deaf and extend to her sincere best | ||
wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Holguin as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. |
