R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
  memories of Don McAskill of Jourdanton, who died on March 16, 2021,
  at the age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Tom and Katie McAskill, Don McAskill was
  born on May 19, 1938, in San Antonio, and he grew up with five
  siblings on a farm near LaCoste; he married his high school
  sweetheart, Shirley Bohl, in 1958, and the couple shared more than
  six decades together; he was the proud father of four children, Pam,
  Mike, Glenn, and the late Gregg McAskill, and he was blessed with
  nine grandchildren, Drew, Griffin, Heath, Madison, Peyton, Landon,
  Daniela, Carlee, and Darby, as well as five great-grandchildren,
  Carson, Amelia, Lucah, Adeline, and Noah; and
         WHEREAS, After graduating from LaCoste High School in 1956,
  Mr. McAskill served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1962; returning to
  civilian life, he earned master's degrees from St. Mary's
  University, Our Lady of the Lake University, and Southern Methodist
  University; he started his career in education as a history
  teacher, driving instructor, counselor, and vice principal at
  Southwest High School, and he went on to teach at Highlands High
  School; he was also the social studies coordinator for the San
  Antonio Independent School District and principal of W. W. White
  Elementary School; and
         WHEREAS, In 1973, Mr. McAskill joined the Jourdanton
  Independent School District, where he worked for nearly 40 years,
  serving as a driver's education instructor and as principal of
  Jourdanton Elementary school before ultimately retiring in 2001;
  affectionately known as "Mr. Mac," he was an inspiring and lively
  teacher and mentor to several generations of Jourdanton students;
  and
         WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a beloved educator, Don
  McAskill lived a caring and purposeful life, and he leaves behind a
  legacy that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Don McAskill and
  extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many friends; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Don
  McAskill.
