R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, There are no words that can diminish the pain caused
  by a young life cut short, but those who shared in the love and
  friendship of Larry Edgar Jones of Spurger may find comfort in their
  memories of this special young man, who died on April 22, 2013, at
  the age of 18; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Melissa Chance and Larry Jones, "L. J."
  Jones was born on April 1, 1995; he was a senior at Warren High
  School, where he was ranked in the top four of his class and was a
  member of the National Honor Society; in addition, he played in the
  band and participated in UIL solo and ensemble competition; he was
  also a UIL competitor in science and math, and he was planning to
  study chemical engineering at Texas A&M University; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Jones loved animals and was a member of the
  Future Farmers of America; he showed animals at the Houston
  Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Tyler County Fair, and the Southeast
  Texas State Fair, and he earned the affectionate nickname "the
  Squirrel Whisperer"; and
         WHEREAS, A man of deep faith, Mr. Jones attended Freedom
  Fellowship Church in Silsbee and was an active member of its youth
  group; he had a heart of gold and a wonderful sense of humor that
  brightened the lives of innumerable people; and
         WHEREAS, Although his days were far too few, the kindness and
  compassion with which L. J. Jones lived his life will forever be
  remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Larry "L. J." Jones
  and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
  parents, Missy and Daniel Nicholson; to his sisters, Jessica
  Nicholson and Jackie Jones; to his brothers, Matthew Nicholson and
  Chris Landers; to his grandparents, Joyce Elaine Philips and her
  husband, Roy, CoCo and Freddie Chance, and Heidi and Bob Nicholson;
  to his aunts and uncles, Naomi and Dale Chance, Pam and Robert
  Nicholson, and Shannon Simmons; and to his many other relatives and
  friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House
  of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
  L. J. Jones.
