WHEREAS, Archie Abrameit retired from his position as manager | ||
of the Stiles Farm Foundation in Thrall on March 31, 2015, and the | ||
conclusion of his notable career provides a fitting opportunity to | ||
recognize him; and | ||
WHEREAS, The 2,600-acre Stiles Farm is part of the Texas A&M | ||
AgriLife Extension Service; the farm serves as a research and | ||
teaching platform through its crop production and cattle herd, and | ||
it assists farmers in the unique Blacklands soil region of Central | ||
and South Texas with new farming practices; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Abrameit began managing the Stiles Farm | ||
Foundation in 1997; in addition to supervising daily operations, he | ||
worked on long-term projects, such as development of the calf-cow | ||
program and conservation tillage research activities; he also | ||
helped create partnerships with equipment companies, and he oversaw | ||
the annual field day events, which draw approximately 400 producers | ||
from the Blacklands region and across Texas, as well as from other | ||
states; and | ||
WHEREAS, Before joining Stiles Farm, Mr. Abrameit spent 19 | ||
years running the Luling Foundation farm, and he also taught | ||
agriculture in the La Grange and Seguin Independent School | ||
Districts for a number of years; he received his bachelor's degree | ||
in agricultural education from Texas A&M University, where he also | ||
earned a fellowship to pursue a master's degree; and | ||
WHEREAS, In retirement, Mr. Abrameit and his wife, Virginia, | ||
look forward to returning to their historic home farm in South | ||
Texas, near Goliad and Victoria; and | ||
WHEREAS, Archie Abrameit's dedication, professionalism, and | ||
commitment to excellence have greatly benefited his fellow Texans, | ||
and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Archie Abrameit on his retirement | ||
from the Stiles Farm Foundation and extend to him sincere best | ||
wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Abrameit as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. |
