R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Ross Obermeyer concluded his tenure on the Allen
  City Council in June 2017, drawing to a close an exceptional record
  of public service; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Obermeyer was first elected to Place 2 on the
  city council in 2002, and his diligent work garnered him the respect
  of his colleagues and the approval of voters, who returned him to
  office for four more terms; during his years in city government, he
  served as council liaison to the North Texas Municipal Water
  District, Arts of Collin County, and the Allen Public Library and
  Allen Parks and Recreation boards; in addition, he represented the
  City of Allen on the Allen Community Development Corporation and
  served on the council's Nominating and Convention and Visitors
  Bureau committees and on the committee overseeing the Allen Senior
  Recreation Center; over the course of his tenure, the community saw
  the opening of an outstanding public amenity, the Allen Event
  Center, as well as the debut or expansion of major retail and
  residential developments; and
         WHEREAS, Prior to joining the city council, this esteemed
  Texan served from 1992 to 1994 on the Allen Parks and Recreation
  Board and from 1994 to 2002 on the Allen Planning and Zoning
  Commission; he continues to contribute to his fellow citizens
  through his membership on the boards of the Allen Parks Foundation
  and the Connemara Conservancy; an alumnus of the University of
  North Texas, Mr. Obermeyer enjoyed a successful 33-year career with
  Texas Instruments, where he held various management positions, and
  he is currently a licensed real estate agent; he and his wife,
  Marilee, take pride in a treasured family that includes their three
  children and four grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, By providing thoughtful leadership and effectively
  representing the interests of their constituents, city council
  members strive each day to improve the quality of life in their
  communities, and the laudable efforts of Ross Obermeyer have helped
  to make Allen an even better place in which to live and work; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Ross Obermeyer for
  his exemplary service on the Allen City Council and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Obermeyer as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
