R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Lancaster High School senior Izayah Allen earned
  first place in integrated physics and chemistry and third place in
  statistics at the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering
  competition held on April 5-7, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1976, the Texas Alliance for Minorities
  in Engineering, or TAME, is a nonprofit organization focused on
  strengthening minority participation in engineering, science,
  technology, and mathematics; as part of its mission to inspire
  young Texans from underrepresented groups to pursue careers in
  these high-demand fields, TAME hosts an annual event in which
  talented middle and high school students from across the state
  compete in individual math and science tests and interactive team
  challenges; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Allen was selected to participate based on his
  strong showing in integrated physics and chemistry during the
  Dallas chapter regional competition that took place in March; he
  serves as vice president of the Junior Engineering Alliance Club at
  Lancaster High and is a charter member of Lancaster's chapter of the
  National Society of Black Engineers; after graduating, he plans to
  attend Texas A&M University to earn a degree in chemical
  engineering; and
         WHEREAS, This impressive young man has won great distinction
  for himself and his school, and the dedication and skill that he has
  demonstrated are certain to be of considerable benefit as he looks
  forward to the opportunities that lie ahead; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Izayah Allen on his exceptional
  performance at the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering
  competition and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Allen as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
