| WHEREAS, Roy Gutierrez retired as superintendent of | ||
| utilities for the City of Robstown Utility Systems on June 30, 2021, | ||
| drawing to a close an exemplary career that spanned more than four | ||
| decades; and | ||
| WHEREAS, First hired in 1976, Mr. Gutierrez held a number of | ||
| positions with the city, including administrative assistant, city | ||
| secretary, and civil service director before becoming | ||
| superintendent of utilities for the City of Robstown Utility | ||
| Systems; over the course of his tenure, he played an instrumental | ||
| role in securing nearly $2 million in grant funding for | ||
| infrastructure improvements, and he helped to eliminate municipal | ||
| debt and to ensure the financial stability of CORUS; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant has further | ||
| contributed to his fellow citizens as chair of the Robstown Housing | ||
| Authority Board of Directors for 10 years and as a member of several | ||
| other civic and charitable boards; he served for six years on the | ||
| Executive Committee of the Wesley Community Center Board of | ||
| Directors, and he chaired the committee that created the Robstown | ||
| Area Development Commission, on which he served; in addition, he | ||
| was a member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend Board of | ||
| Directors and a charter member of the Corpus Christi Northwest | ||
| Rotary Club; a man of faith, he is a valued congregant of | ||
| St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church; and | ||
| WHEREAS, With his professionalism, dedication, and | ||
| commitment to excellence, Roy Gutierrez has greatly benefited the | ||
| residents of Robstown, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his | ||
| outstanding record of achievement as he begins the next exciting | ||
| chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Roy Gutierrez on his retirement as | ||
| superintendent of utilities for the City of Robstown Utility | ||
| Systems and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Gutierrez as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
