WHEREAS, Conley Todd Jr. retired as senior vice president of | ||
First Financial Bank in Newton on March 31, 2015, concluding an | ||
exemplary career in banking that has spanned five and a half | ||
decades; and | ||
WHEREAS, A member of the Newton High School Class of 1958, | ||
Conley Todd graduated with a bachelor of business administration | ||
degree from Lamar University in 1962; he subsequently attended the | ||
Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist | ||
University and the American Bankers Association National | ||
Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Todd began working in the banking industry at | ||
First Security National Bank in Beaumont in 1960, when he was a | ||
junior in college; hired in 1962 by IBM as a data processing | ||
representative, he returned to First Security National in 1966 as | ||
vice president of marketing data processing services; eight years | ||
later, he assumed the reins of Citizens National Bank as president; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, In 1981, Mr. Todd went into business for himself as | ||
a consultant, providing such services as loan review, capital | ||
planning, policy writing, training, and due diligence studies; | ||
while continuing in that role for more than two decades, he also | ||
held management positions at a number of banks; he became the | ||
southwest regional manager of Hibernia National Bank in Orange in | ||
1998, and he went on to serve as interim president of Mauriceville | ||
National Bank in 2002 and as senior vice president of Orange Savings | ||
Bank later that year before accepting the position of senior vice | ||
president of First Financial Bank; and | ||
WHEREAS, This dynamic Texan has further distinguished | ||
himself through his involvement in a variety of professional and | ||
community organizations; he has held membership in the Independent | ||
Bankers Association of Texas, the American Bankers Association, and | ||
the Sabine-Neches Bankers Association, and he has given generously | ||
of his time and talents in behalf of the Newton Lions Club, the | ||
Newton Chamber of Commerce, the Deep East Texas Development | ||
Association, Rotary Club International, and Boys' Haven; moreover, | ||
he is a valued congregant of First United Methodist Church of | ||
Newton; and | ||
WHEREAS, Retirement will undoubtedly afford Mr. Todd the | ||
opportunity to spend more time with his beloved family, including | ||
his wife of 52 years, Gadelle Todd, his daughters, Meredith and Amy, | ||
and his six grandchildren, as well as to indulge in his favorite | ||
leisure activities of golfing, hunting, fishing, cooking, and | ||
traveling; and | ||
WHEREAS, Throughout his banking career, Conley Todd upheld | ||
the highest standards of his profession, earning the respect of | ||
colleagues and customers alike, and he may indeed reflect with | ||
pride on a job well done as he embarks on the next exciting chapter | ||
of his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Conley Todd Jr. on his retirement | ||
from First Financial Bank and extend to him sincere best wishes for | ||
the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Todd as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. |
