| WHEREAS, Tom S. Ramsey is being honored as the Houston Area | ||
| Engineer of the Year at a gala event on February 24, 2023, as part of | ||
| Houston Engineers Week; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Ramsey | ||
| became a licensed professional engineer in 1979, and over the | ||
| course of his exemplary career, he has provided engineering | ||
| solutions for more than 50 cities and 20 counties in Texas; highly | ||
| esteemed in his field, he has held leadership positions with a | ||
| number of professional organizations, among them the American | ||
| Public Works Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, | ||
| and the National Society of Professional Engineers; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Ramsey is the former mayor of Spring Valley | ||
| Village, and he currently serves as Harris County Commissioner for | ||
| Precinct 3; his accolades include the Young Engineer of the Year | ||
| award from the Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional | ||
| Engineers, the Outstanding Young Houstonian award from the Houston | ||
| Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Public Official of the Year | ||
| award from the University of Houston; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Ramsey enjoys the love and | ||
| support of a fine family that includes his wife, Marsha, and their | ||
| three children and seven grandchildren; a man of faith, he is an | ||
| active congregant of Second Baptist Church as well as a member of | ||
| the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary Advisory Board; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Tom Ramsey's dedication, expertise, and commitment | ||
| to excellence have greatly benefited his fellow Texans and earned | ||
| him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may indeed | ||
| reflect with pride on his accomplishments as he accepts this | ||
| prestigious award; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Tom S. Ramsey on his selection as | ||
| the 2023 Houston Area Engineer of the Year and extend to him sincere | ||
| best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Ramsey as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
