| WHEREAS, Jacob Gholston of Flower Mound High School has been | ||
| named the 2023 Baseball Player of the Year by the Dallas Morning | ||
| News; and | ||
| WHEREAS, During his exemplary senior season, Mr. Gholston | ||
| anchored the Jaguars' pitching staff and helped guide the team to | ||
| the 6A state championship; in the regional final against Denton | ||
| Guyer, he delivered a clutch performance, throwing 6.2 scoreless | ||
| innings as Flower Mound clinched a trip to the state tournament; | ||
| over the course of the season, he struck out 111 batters in 87 | ||
| innings while posting an impressive 0.96 ERA and a 12-2 record; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ranked as one of the top 400 prospects in the nation | ||
| by Baseball America, Mr. Gholston has committed to pitch for the | ||
| University of Oklahoma Sooners; he has further distinguished | ||
| himself during his high school years as a member of the Flower Mound | ||
| basketball team; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan has proven himself to | ||
| be a gifted and dedicated student-athlete, and he may take | ||
| justifiable pride in his accomplishments as he looks forward to a | ||
| future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Jacob | ||
| Gholston on being selected as the 2023 Baseball Player of the Year | ||
| by the Dallas Morning News and extend to him sincere best wishes for | ||
| continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Gholston as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
