WHEREAS, Riazul Mia retired as assistant city manager of | ||
Laredo on April 28, 2023, drawing to a close 27 years of public | ||
service to the community; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Mia worked for the city as director of the | ||
Environmental Services Department before transitioning to the role | ||
of utilities director, a post he held for five years; he was | ||
promoted to assistant city manager in the summer of 2020; and | ||
WHEREAS, Among many significant achievements throughout his | ||
tenure, Mr. Mia collaborated with the council and management to | ||
resolve severe flooding problems in the city; he also led several | ||
projects to provide or improve water utilities in rapidly | ||
developing areas of Laredo, and he was the project manager and | ||
contract developer for a major public-private partnership for the | ||
expansion of Bartlett Avenue; and | ||
WHEREAS, Riazul Mia's dedication, expertise, and leadership | ||
have greatly benefited the citizens of Laredo and earned him the | ||
respect and admiration of his colleagues, and he may indeed reflect | ||
with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting | ||
chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Riazul Mia on his retirement as | ||
assistant city manager of Laredo and extend to him sincere best | ||
wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Mia as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
