R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Whitney Shantel Shaffer graduated as valedictorian
  of the 2013 senior class of Highland Park High School in Amarillo,
  and she truly merits special recognition for her impressive
  achievements; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
  highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, Ms.
  Shaffer demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of
  subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to
  her studies are myriad; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to the pride inherent in being
  recognized as the highest achieving student in her class,
  Ms. Shaffer gained the opportunity to address her fellow seniors at
  commencement and to reflect on their shared history as well as their
  hopes and ambitions for the future; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Diane Jaramillo, Whitney Shaffer has
  earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at
  Highland Park High School, and her exceptional scholastic ability,
  hard work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to
  limitless opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Whitney
  Shantel Shaffer, valedictorian of the Highland Park High School
  Class of 2013, and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  success as she begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Shaffer as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
