R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The city of Burnet is celebrating its 30th annual
  Bluebonnet Festival from April 12 to 14, 2013, and this special
  anniversary is a fitting opportunity to commemorate this uniquely
  Texan event; and
         WHEREAS, Burnet County was designated the Bluebonnet
  Co-capital of Texas by the state legislature in 1981, and the first
  Bluebonnet Festival in Burnet was held two years later; Pat Riddell
  and Cary Johnson funded the event with the assistance of the Burnet
  Chamber of Commerce and dozens of hardworking volunteers; and
         WHEREAS, In the three decades since, the Bluebonnet Festival
  has been held on the second weekend of April, drawing more than
  30,000 attendees each year; residents and visitors alike delight in
  the festival's popular displays and activities, including a birding
  and wildflower show, a carnival, a pet parade and grand parade, arts
  and crafts vendors, a golf tournament, a 5K and 10K run, a
  biergarten, musical performances, and the Miss Burnet Bluebonnet
  Scholarship Pageant; and
         WHEREAS, For 30 years, the Bluebonnet Festival in Burnet has
  offered those who attend the chance to set aside the cares of daily
  life and to enjoy the flowering beauty of our Texas spring; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature hereby commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Burnet
  Bluebonnet Festival and extend to the festival's organizers and
  guests sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable event.
