WHEREAS, Lynn Moak has demonstrated an outstanding | ||
commitment to improving public education in Texas, and he is indeed | ||
deserving of special recognition for his many contributions; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Moak enjoyed a rewarding career as a managing | ||
partner of public school consulting firm Moak Casey that spanned 24 | ||
years before his retirement in 2022, and he continues to serve the | ||
organization as a consultant; over the course of his tenure with the | ||
firm, he has played an instrumental role in numerous education | ||
finance policy changes and has developed research for major cases | ||
involving public school finance; and | ||
WHEREAS, Respected in his profession, Mr. Moak has held | ||
senior staff positions with the Texas Education Agency, the Texas | ||
State Comptroller's Office, and the Texas Lieutenant Governor's | ||
Office; he has served on the boards of the National Education | ||
Finance Academy and the Association for Education Finance and | ||
Policy and been involved with the Government Finance Officers | ||
Association, the Association of School Business Officials, and the | ||
American Educational Research Association; in addition, he has been | ||
a member of the Paramount Theatre advisory council and the Lady Bird | ||
Johnson Wildflower Center's Lady Bird Society; among his honors, he | ||
has received a NEFA Lifetime Achievement Award and a Region 4 | ||
Education Service Center Superintendent's Award; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Moak holds a bachelor's degree from The | ||
University of Texas at Austin, where he also pursued graduate | ||
studies; and | ||
WHEREAS, Public education is an endeavor of vital importance | ||
to the continued prosperity of the Lone Star State, and through his | ||
wide-ranging expertise in finance and public policy, Lynn Moak has | ||
made valuable contributions to school districts all across Texas; | ||
now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby commend Lynn Moak for his efforts to further | ||
public education in Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes for | ||
the future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Moak as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
