| WHEREAS, Lynn Moak has demonstrated an outstanding | ||
| commitment to improving public education in Texas, and he is indeed | ||
| deserving of special recognition for his many contributions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Moak enjoyed a rewarding career as a managing | ||
| partner of public school consulting firm Moak Casey that spanned 24 | ||
| years before his retirement in 2022, and he continues to serve the | ||
| organization as a consultant; over the course of his tenure with the | ||
| firm, he has played an instrumental role in numerous education | ||
| finance policy changes and has developed research for major cases | ||
| involving public school finance; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Respected in his profession, Mr. Moak has held | ||
| senior staff positions with the Texas Education Agency, the Texas | ||
| State Comptroller's Office, and the Texas Lieutenant Governor's | ||
| Office; he has served on the boards of the National Education | ||
| Finance Academy and the Association for Education Finance and | ||
| Policy and been involved with the Government Finance Officers | ||
| Association, the Association of School Business Officials, and the | ||
| American Educational Research Association; in addition, he has been | ||
| a member of the Paramount Theatre advisory council and the Lady Bird | ||
| Johnson Wildflower Center's Lady Bird Society; among his honors, he | ||
| has received a NEFA Lifetime Achievement Award and a Region 4 | ||
| Education Service Center Superintendent's Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Moak holds a bachelor's degree from The | ||
| University of Texas at Austin, where he also pursued graduate | ||
| studies; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Public education is an endeavor of vital importance | ||
| to the continued prosperity of the Lone Star State, and through his | ||
| wide-ranging expertise in finance and public policy, Lynn Moak has | ||
| made valuable contributions to school districts all across Texas; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commend Lynn Moak for his efforts to further | ||
| public education in Texas and extend to him sincere best wishes for | ||
| the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Mr. Moak as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
