H.R. No. 1283

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to
recognize Ricky Phillips for his outstanding contributions to the
field of popular music; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Phillips was raised in Northern California with
an appreciation of the arts; his parents, who were active in local
theater, encouraged his pursuit of music; and
WHEREAS, Beginning his musical training on the piano,
Mr. Phillips soon became enthralled by the guitar and bass, and he
founded his first band at the age of 12; he dropped out of college to
pursue a full-time career in music, and he was soon hired to play
bass for the British band The Babys; and
WHEREAS, Following the breakup of The Babys, Mr. Phillips
helped establish Bad English, whose debut album achieved platinum
status; over the course of his career, he has also played with such
legendary musicians as Jimmy Page, Joe Cocker, Roger Daltrey, and
Mick Jagger; and
WHEREAS, Ricky Phillips has brought great pleasure to
countless audiences through the years, and it is indeed fitting to
honor him at this time; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby recognize Ricky Phillips for his many
accomplishments and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
success in all of his endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Phillips as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
