| WHEREAS, The students at Castleman Creek Elementary in | ||
| Hewitt collected more than $10,500 for the American Heart | ||
| Association during their 2011 Jump Rope for Heart fund-raiser; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Jump Rope for Heart is a national event sponsored by | ||
| the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for | ||
| Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance that educates | ||
| elementary and middle school students about the benefits of | ||
| physical activity and heart-healthy living while getting them | ||
| involved in community service; participating students raise money | ||
| to help fight cardiovascular disease and stroke, which are our | ||
| nation's number one and number three killers, respectively, as they | ||
| exercise and develop their jump rope skills; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This year, 321 dedicated Castleman Creek students | ||
| took part in the event, and the amount that they brought in set a new | ||
| school record, surpassing their 2010 total of $8,400; the students | ||
| were ably supported in this project by many teachers, parents, and | ||
| volunteers, and the money they raised will help the American Heart | ||
| Association fund vital research and educational programs; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through their participation in the 2011 Jump Rope | ||
| for Heart endeavor, the students of Castleman Creek Elementary have | ||
| demonstrated their commitment to remaining physically active and | ||
| have contributed significantly to advancing the crucial work of the | ||
| American Heart Association, and their remarkable accomplishment is | ||
| indeed worthy of special recognition; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commend the students of Castleman Creek | ||
| Elementary for their outstanding fund-raising efforts in behalf of | ||
| the American Heart Association and extend to them sincere | ||
| appreciation for their impressive contribution to such a worthy | ||
| cause; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Castleman Creek Elementary as an expression of high | ||
| regard by the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
