R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Billy Braun, a student at Veterans Memorial High
School in San Antonio, won first place in the Chemistry 1 category
at the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad held at St. Mary's
University on March 24, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the American Chemical Society, the
Chemistry Olympiad is a multitiered competition designed to foster
interest and promote achievement in high school chemistry; all high
school students are invited to participate in local Chemistry
Olympiad competitions, and the top performers at the local level
advance to the National Chemistry Olympiad Exam, which is
administered to more than 1,000 students from across the country;
and
WHEREAS, With his first-place finish at the local contest at
St. Mary's University, Billy Braun joined a select group of
talented young men and women who qualified to compete in the
National Olympiad; and
WHEREAS, This impressive young Texan has won great
distinction for himself and his school, and the skill, discipline,
and determination he has demonstrated are certain to serve him well
in the years to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Billy Braun on placing first in the
Chemistry 1 category at the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad and
extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all his
endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Braun as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
