	H.R. No. 126



	R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt by
	family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Marco Antonio Zarate of
	the Bellaire Police Department, who died in the line of duty on July
	12, 2016, at the age of 52; and
	WHEREAS, Marco Zarate was born in Houston to Cristina Jamaux
	and Marco Zarate Sr. on October 2, 1963; he was a veteran of the
	United States Marine Corps and joined the Bellaire Police
	Department in May 2009; admired for his commitment to his work and
	his community, Officer Zarate exemplified the finest qualities of a
	dedicated law enforcement officer, and he was always willing to go
	out of his way to help someone in need; and
	WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan served as a volunteer with the
	Special Olympics, and he was an active member of the Thin Blue Line
	motorcycle police community; passionate about health and fitness,
	he earned a second-degree black belt in karate; and
	WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Officer Zarate enjoyed the
	love and support of his wife, Cecilia, and he was a proud father to
	three cherished daughters, Meghan, Miah, and Mayah; and
	WHEREAS, Although the passing of this courageous officer is a
	profound loss to the Bellaire community, Marco Zarate leaves behind
	a record of service that will forever remain a source of inspiration
	to all who had the good fortune to know him; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Officer Marco
	Zarate and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and many
	friends; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Marco
	Zarate.
