WHEREAS, Anthony J. Snipes, the city manager of Missouri | ||
City, was installed as president and chair of the National Forum for | ||
Black Public Administrators on April 6, 2019; and | ||
WHEREAS, A highly regarded municipal administrator, | ||
Mr. Snipes has built a proven record of leadership and gained a | ||
wealth of knowledge from his tenure in Missouri City as well as from | ||
his previous positions in Austin, Fort Worth, and Dayton, Ohio; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Snipes became the chief administrative officer | ||
for Missouri City in December 2015; in the years since, he has | ||
overseen the city's more than 350 full-time employees and a | ||
combined annual budget of nearly $140 million; he counts among his | ||
many accomplishments the creation of the Missouri City Parks | ||
Foundation, the introduction of the High Performance Organization | ||
Framework system to efficiently manage the city's workforce, and | ||
the launch of such important initiatives as Voice2Vision, the | ||
Community Walk and Ride Tour, and the Nuisance Abatement Team; and | ||
WHEREAS, In addition to fulfilling his duties as city | ||
manager, Mr. Snipes has held leadership roles with a number of | ||
civic organizations, including the Texas City Management | ||
Association and the Institute for Building Technology and Safety; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Snipes holds a bachelor's degree in political | ||
science and sociology from Mercer University and a master's degree | ||
in public administration from Florida State University; in all his | ||
endeavors, he enjoys the love and support of his wife, Dr. Tracie | ||
Snipes, and he takes great pride in their two children; and | ||
WHEREAS, Through his dedication and expertise, Anthony | ||
Snipes has made a positive and lasting difference in the lives of | ||
countless Texans, and the experience he has acquired over the years | ||
will serve him well as he takes on this challenging new role; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Anthony J. Snipes on his | ||
installation as president and chair of the National Forum for Black | ||
Public Administrators and extend to him sincere best wishes for the | ||
future; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Snipes as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
House of Representatives. | ||
