R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Robstown High School girls' powerlifting team
  once again proved itself one of the finest in the Lone Star State by
  winning the 2023 Texas High School Women's Powerlifting Association
  4A Division II state championship; and
         WHEREAS, Joining the top high school competitors in Texas at
  the Comerica Center in Frisco on March 17, the Lady Pickers turned
  in an exceptional state meet performance; compiling a team score of
  40 to best their nearest foe by 18 points, they claimed their second
  consecutive state crown; and
         WHEREAS, The team was paced by four individual title winners;
  Leaya Alaniz triumphed in the 97-pound weight class by lifting a
  total of 750 pounds, and Jozannah Rodriguez set the 4A state bench
  press record on her way to claiming gold in the 123-pound division
  by hoisting 905 pounds; Olivia Morales, competing in the 165-pound
  weight class, posted a final tally of 975 pounds to take first in
  her division, while Janessa Vela racked up a team-high 1,030 pounds
  to win the 198-pound class; and
         WHEREAS, The other Robstown medal winners were second-place
  finishers Amelynne Olguin at 105 pounds and Jamie Casas at 148
  pounds; in addition, Lorena Paredez placed fourth in the 198-pound
  class, and the Lady Pickers were also represented by state
  qualifiers J'lynn Fernandez, Jianna Olguin, and Jaley Larivey; and
         WHEREAS, Excelling through hard work and determination over
  the course of the season, the Lady Pickers benefited from the
  leadership of head coach DeAndre Holmes and assistant coaches
  Jennifer Martinez and Edward Margenau; and
         WHEREAS, By winning back-to-back state titles, the Robstown
  Lady Pickers have burnished their school's reputation for athletic
  excellence, and they may indeed reflect with pride on a job well
  done; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Robstown High School girls'
  powerlifting team on winning the 2023 THSWPA 4A Division II state
  championship and extend to all those associated with the team
  sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
