R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Luman W. Holman has contributed to the Kiwanis Club
  and the Jacksonville community for a remarkable 70 years, and this
  notable milestone provides a fitting opportunity to recognize an
  outstanding community leader; and
         WHEREAS, Born in East Texas, Mr. Holman graduated from Lon
  Morris College and attended Baylor University; he joined the
  Kiwanis Club in 1943 and, after serving as president of the
  Jacksonville chapter, was elected lieutenant governor of Division
  13, which became a leading division in Kiwanis International for
  the number of Key Clubs it organized; in 1951, Mr. Holman was
  elected governor of the Texas-Oklahoma District, becoming the
  youngest member to hold that office; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan has distinguished himself in
  several other capacities as well, including as a member of the board
  of directors of Tyler Federal Land Bank, East Texas Baptist
  College, and the Boy Scouts of America; he has further shared his
  time and energy with Tyler Street Baptist Church, where he has
  served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher, and the vice president
  of the Church Brotherhood; he has spent his professional career as a
  partner in the Cobb Holman Lumber Company, and he raised a line of
  Texas longhorns known as Holman cattle for nearly two decades; and
         WHEREAS, For more than seven decades, Mr. Holman enjoyed the
  love and support of his wife, Rosemary, until her passing in 2011;
  together they became the parents of seven children and shared in the
  joy of welcoming numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren
  into their family; the Holmans were named Family of the Year by the
  East Texas Fair Foundation in 2002; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to the greater good, Luman Holman has made
  a positive difference in the world around him through his
  generosity, initiative, and vision, and it is indeed a pleasure to
  join his friends and admirers in saluting him for his exemplary
  record of achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby honor Luman W. Holman for
  70 years of service as a member of the Kiwanis Club and extend to him
  sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Holman as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
