R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Karen Burns has served Van Zandt County for 30
  years, and her knowledge and dedication have earned her the respect
  of many people along the way; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Burns first joined the county in March 1992 as
  a part-time employee with the Van Zandt County Community
  Supervision and Corrections Department, and she became a full-time
  employee the following year; she eventually began serving as a
  probation officer, and in July 2011, she was promoted to deputy
  director of the Van Zandt County CSCD; and
         WHEREAS, Since her appointment as director in March 2017,
  Mrs. Burns has worked tirelessly with other agencies, departments,
  and community organizations to further the CSCD's mission of
  reducing the impact of crime in the community; under her able
  leadership, the department offers a range of probation services,
  including Pre and Post Sentence Investigations, Civil Supervision,
  Criminal Supervision, and GPS monitoring, in an effort to balance
  the needs of its clients with the safety of the public; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Burns holds a bachelor's degree in criminal
  justice from The University of Texas at Tyler, and she has furthered
  her professional development by earning numerous certifications,
  including a Community Supervision Officer certification, an SCS
  certification, and a Texas Risk Assessment System certification; in
  all her endeavors, she enjoys the love and support of her husband,
  Magee, and her three children, Nathan, Ashley, and Blake; and
         WHEREAS, Karen Burns has greatly benefited the residents of
  Van Zandt County through her professionalism and commitment to
  excellence, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her many
  achievements as she celebrates this impressive milestone in her
  career; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Karen Burns for her three decades of
  service to Van Zandt County and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Burns as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
