WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of | ||
mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Melvin and Sarah Long | ||
of Childress celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on | ||
August 24, 2018; and | ||
WHEREAS, High school sweethearts, Melvin Matthew Long and the | ||
former Sarah Ann Holland were joined in matrimony in 1968 at the | ||
First United Methodist Church in their hometown of Estelline; over | ||
the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that | ||
includes their children, Staci Fair and her husband, Mike, Melanie | ||
Cummins and her husband, Todd, and Donna Smith and her husband, | ||
Marty, as well as their grandchildren, Matthew and Marcilete Fair, | ||
Jacob and Jared Cummins, and Michael and Cole Smith; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Long previously resided in Lubbock and | ||
later returned to Estelline, where they lived for many years before | ||
making their home in Childress; and | ||
WHEREAS, This esteemed couple have enjoyed five decades of | ||
abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an | ||
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting | ||
commitment; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby congratulate Melvin and Sarah Long on their | ||
golden wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes | ||
for continued happiness; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Long as an expression of high regard by | ||
the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
