| WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association | ||
| are celebrating their 60th anniversary as an advocacy group for | ||
| retired educators and the public education system; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A resource and a voice for more than 300,000 retired | ||
| school personnel, the TRTA has a membership of approximately 80,000 | ||
| retired teachers; one out of every 16 Texans over the age of 65 is a | ||
| member of the organization; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Members of each TRTA district across the state work | ||
| in behalf of students, future educators, active educators, and | ||
| their fellow retired teachers; moreover, the TRTA energetically | ||
| promotes the financial soundness of the pension plan and retiree | ||
| health care program through its support of a strong Teacher | ||
| Retirement System; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to education | ||
| and educators, the Texas Retired Teachers Association has made | ||
| immeasurable contributions to the citizens of the Lone Star State | ||
| over the past six decades, and it is indeed a pleasure to honor | ||
| members of this noteworthy organization; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby recognize the Texas Retired Teachers | ||
| Association on the occasion of its 60th anniversary and extend | ||
| sincere best wishes to its members. | ||
