| WHEREAS, Proud members of the Texas Cattle Feeders | ||
| Association are celebrating the organization's 50th anniversary in | ||
| 2017; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A national leader in animal care and health, food | ||
| safety, environmental stewardship, and trade policy, TCFA works to | ||
| advance the economic, political, and social interests of the cattle | ||
| feeding industry in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The area served by TCFA is the largest | ||
| cattle-feeding region in the United States, feeding and marketing | ||
| approximately 6 million head of cattle each year and producing 28 | ||
| percent of the nation's fed-cattle supply; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In the past 50 years, TCFA-area feed yards have fed | ||
| and marketed some 275 million head of cattle, which produced | ||
| roughly 125 billion pounds of beef, or the equivalent of 500 billion | ||
| quarter-pound hamburgers; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Beef from TCFA feed yards is highly sought after | ||
| across the country and around the world, and the annual economic | ||
| impact of cattle feeding on the State of Texas alone is in the | ||
| billions of dollars; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Texas Cattle Feeders Association plays a dynamic | ||
| and vital role in the prosperity of the Lone Star State, and the | ||
| association's members may indeed take great pride in their half | ||
| century of achievement; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas | ||
| hereby commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Texas Cattle Feeders | ||
| Association and extend to all those involved with the organization | ||
| sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the Texas Cattle Feeders Association as an expression | ||
| of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives and Senate. | ||
