HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 
         WHEREAS, Pastor Robbie Keith Caldwell has served as a source
  of guidance and inspiration to countless people over the course of
  his 50 years in the clergy; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Gilmer, Robbie Caldwell first entered
  the ministry while attending Jacksonville College in the fall of
  1966; he graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a
  bachelor's degree in political science and speech before studying
  at a seminary; and
         WHEREAS, Since delivering his first sermon in 1966, Pastor
  Caldwell has served as a dynamic minister of the gospel for the
  Baptist Missionary Association; he has preached at churches in
  Nacogdoches, Pittsburg, Ore City, Crockett, and Terrell, and for
  the past 25 years, he has led the congregation of New Harmony
  Baptist Church in Tyler; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to his service in the pulpit, Pastor
  Caldwell has benefited the Baptist Missionary Association as its
  state president and as a member of several of its national boards;
  he has also taken part in mission trips to Africa, South America,
  and Eastern Europe, overseen mission and seminary training, and
  helped lead state conventions; moreover, he is still called to
  officiate at weddings and funerals in churches he pastored years
  previously; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed clergyman has been active in his
  community as well, serving as president of booster clubs, helping
  out with charity drives, and attending to the needs of others
  wherever possible; he is supported in all his endeavors by his wife,
  Janice, with whom he has shared 49 years, and their two children,
  Jason and April; and
         WHEREAS, Robbie Caldwell has long exemplified the highest
  standards of his vocation, and he has earned the lasting respect and
  admiration of all who have witnessed his example of spiritual
  leadership and devotion; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 85th Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby congratulate Pastor Robbie Keith Caldwell on his 50 years in
  the ministry and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
  success with his important work; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Pastor Caldwell as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives and Senate.
