| performance of an elective abortion or elective abortion-related | ||
| service. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 171, Health and Safety | ||
| Code, is amended by adding Section 171.006 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 171.006. PROHIBITED USE OF TAX REVENUE. (a) In this | ||
| section, "elective abortion" means an abortion that is not | ||
| medically necessary to save the life of the pregnant female on whom | ||
| the abortion is performed. | ||
| (b) This state or a governmental entity in this state may | ||
| not directly or indirectly use state or local tax revenue to finance | ||
| the performance of an elective abortion or a service related to the | ||
| performance of an elective abortion. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
