| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 502.255(i), Transportation Code, is | ||
| amended to read as follows: | ||
| (i) The department shall [ |
||
| nonexpiring license plates for token trailers. The nonexpiring | ||
| license plate shall remain displayed on the token trailer until the | ||
| trailer is sold or removed from service or the license plate is not | ||
| legible. The department shall provide for a person to register a | ||
| token trailer under this section on the department's Internet | ||
| website. | ||
| SECTION 2. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles shall | ||
| adopt rules for the administration of Section 502.255(i), | ||
| Transportation Code, as amended by this Act, as soon as practicable | ||
| after this Act takes effect. For that purpose, the department may | ||
| adopt the rules in the manner provided by law for emergency rules. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | ||
