relating to exclusion of certain public school student disciplinary | ||
actions from reports required by state or federal law. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 37.002, Education Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: | ||
(e) A student who is sent to the campus behavior | ||
coordinator's office under Subsection (a) is not considered to have | ||
been removed from the classroom for the purposes of reporting data | ||
through the Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) | ||
or other similar reports required by state or federal law. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020 | ||
school year. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
