relating to the jurisdiction of a county criminal court at law in | ||
Harris County. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 25.1033(a), Government Code, is amended | ||
to read as follows: | ||
(a) A county criminal court at law in Harris County has the: | ||
(1) criminal jurisdiction provided by law for county | ||
courts; | ||
(2) concurrent jurisdiction with county civil courts | ||
at law for Harris County to hear appeals of the suspension of | ||
driver's licenses and original proceedings regarding occupational | ||
driver's licenses; and | ||
(3) appellate jurisdiction in appeals of criminal | ||
cases from justice courts and municipal courts in the county. | ||
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
to an action filed in a county criminal court at law in Harris | ||
County on or after the effective date of this Act. An action filed | ||
in a county criminal court at law in Harris County before the | ||
effective date of this Act is governed by the law in effect on the | ||
date the action was filed, and the former law is continued in effect | ||
for that purpose. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
