| relating to the availability of information regarding the | ||
| eligibility of persons with disabilities to use certain public | ||
| transportation services. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 461.009, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
| (c) The department shall post on the department's Internet | ||
| website information regarding how an individual who is eligible to | ||
| use a provider's services may access another provider's services | ||
| when the individual visits the other provider's service area. The | ||
| website must identify each provider's service area and provide | ||
| contact information for each provider. | ||
| SECTION 2. Chapter 461, Transportation Code, is amended by | ||
| adding Section 461.010 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 461.010. DATABASE OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SERVICES | ||
| FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES. (a) In this section, "provider" and | ||
| "services" have the meanings assigned by Section 461.009. | ||
| (b) The department shall establish a database of all | ||
| individuals who are eligible to use a provider's services in this | ||
| state and authorize each provider in the state to access the | ||
| database. Each provider in the state must maintain data in the | ||
| database identifying each individual who resides in the provider's | ||
| service area and who is eligible to use the provider's services. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
