| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 162.015, Health and Safety Code, is | ||
| amended to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 162.015. DONATION OF BLOOD BY PERSONS YOUNGER THAN 18 | ||
| YEARS OF AGE. [ |

| younger than 18 years of age may not: | ||
| (1) donate blood or blood components without the | ||
| consent of a parent, managing conservator, guardian, or other | ||
| person who is legally authorized to consent to the person's medical | ||
| care; or | ||
| (2) receive any compensation from a blood bank for a | ||
| donation of the person's blood or blood components. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. | ||
