A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to consent for the donation of blood or blood components by |
|
a minor. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 162.015, Health and Safety Code, is |
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 162.015. DONATION OF BLOOD BY PERSONS YOUNGER THAN 18 |
|
YEARS OF AGE. [A person who is 17 years of age may consent to the
|
|
donation of the person's blood or blood components.] A person |
|
younger than 18 years of age may not: |
|
(1) donate blood or blood components without the |
|
consent of a parent, managing conservator, guardian, or other |
|
person who is legally authorized to consent to the person's medical |
|
care; or |
|
(2) receive any compensation from a blood bank for a |
|
donation of the person's blood or blood components. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2015. |
