relating to the provision of food service, laundry service, and | ||
lawn care to certain mental health facilities and state supported | ||
living centers. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 551, Health and Safety | ||
Code, is amended by adding Section 551.008 to read as follows: | ||
Sec. 551.008. REGIONAL LAUNDRY CENTERS. A regional laundry | ||
center operated by the commission to provide laundry services to | ||
department facilities may contract with federal agencies, other | ||
state agencies, or local political subdivisions to provide or | ||
receive laundry services. | ||
SECTION 2. Section 551.009(c), Health and Safety Code, is | ||
amended to read as follows: | ||
(c) The local mental health authority shall contract with | ||
Kerrville State Hospital to provide food service, laundry service, | ||
and lawn care to the local mental health authority operating a | ||
crisis stabilization unit on the grounds of the Kerrville State | ||
Hospital as provided by this section. | ||
SECTION 3. If before implementing any provision of this Act | ||
a state agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a | ||
federal agency is necessary for implementation of that provision, | ||
the agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or | ||
authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the | ||
waiver or authorization is granted. | ||
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
