| relating to the composition of the governing body of certain | ||
| regional planning commissions. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 391.006, Local Government Code, is | ||
| amended by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (d) to | ||
| read as follows: | ||
| (a) Except as provided by Subsection (c) or (d), | ||
| participating governmental units may by joint agreement determine | ||
| the number and qualifications of members of the governing body of a | ||
| commission. | ||
| (d) If a county participating in a commission has a | ||
| population of more than 650,000 and less than 850,000, the | ||
| governing body of the commission must include one member appointed | ||
| by that county. | ||
| SECTION 2. A county to which Section 391.006, Local | ||
| Government Code, as amended by this Act, applies shall appoint a | ||
| member to the governing body of a regional planning commission as | ||
| required by that section not later than January 1, 2014. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. | ||
