| relating to voluntary deductions from the wages or salaries of | ||
| deputy sheriffs for contributions to political committees. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 155.001, Local Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
| (c) In addition to a payroll deduction authorized under | ||
| Subsection (a), a commissioners court, on the request of a deputy | ||
| sheriff employed by the county, shall authorize a payroll deduction | ||
| to be made from the deputy's wages or salary for contributions to a | ||
| specified general-purpose committee. A payroll deduction made | ||
| under this subsection shall be transferred directly to the | ||
| committee. In this subsection, "general-purpose committee" has the | ||
| meaning assigned by Section 251.001, Election Code. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
| a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
| provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
| Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
| Act takes effect September 1, 2011. | ||
