relating to voluntary deductions from the wages or salaries of | ||
deputy sheriffs for contributions to political committees. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 155.001, Local Government Code, is | ||
amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | ||
(c) In addition to a payroll deduction authorized under | ||
Subsection (a), a commissioners court, on the request of a deputy | ||
sheriff employed by the county, shall authorize a payroll deduction | ||
to be made from the deputy's wages or salary for contributions to a | ||
specified general-purpose committee. A payroll deduction made | ||
under this subsection shall be transferred directly to the | ||
committee. In this subsection, "general-purpose committee" has the | ||
meaning assigned by Section 251.001, Election Code. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
