| relating to certain employment restrictions for former county or | ||
| municipal officers or employees. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Chapter 171, Local Government Code, is amended | ||
| by adding Section 171.008 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 171.008. CERTAIN EMPLOYMENT FOR FORMER COUNTY OR | ||
| MUNICIPAL OFFICER OR EMPLOYEE RESTRICTED. A former county or | ||
| municipal officer or employee who during the period of county or | ||
| municipal service or employment participated on behalf of the | ||
| county or municipality in a procurement or contract negotiation | ||
| involving a person may not accept employment from that person | ||
| before the second anniversary of the date the contract is signed or | ||
| the procurement is terminated or withdrawn. | ||
| SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
| to a county or municipal officer or employee whose service or | ||
| employment with a county or municipality ceases on or after the | ||
| effective date of this Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
