A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to restrictions on written reports required to be provided
  by school districts and open-enrollment charter schools.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 7.060, Education Code, is amended by
  adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
         (c)  In addition to the requirements otherwise prescribed by
  this section, the commissioner shall adopt policies that result in
  a reduction of at least 25 percent each, for school districts and
  open-enrollment charter schools, in the total amount of written
  reports required by the agency to be prepared, as determined in
  comparison to the total amount of written reports required to be
  prepared by each of those entities during the 2010-2011 school
  year. The policies must be implemented as soon as practicable, but
  not later than the 2012-2013 school year. This subsection expires
  September 1, 2013.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2011.
