| relating to the text of municipal ballot propositions on the | ||
| issuance of bonds. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 1331, Government Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 1331.003 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 1331.003. BONDS THAT INCREASE TAXES. A ballot | ||
| proposition to approve bonds issued by a municipality that would | ||
| add or increase taxes must include the following statement: "THIS | ||
| IS A TAX INCREASE." | ||
| SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only | ||
| to an election ordered on or after the effective date of this Act. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. | ||
