relating to the optional county fee in certain counties for the | ||
county road and bridge fund. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 502.172, Transportation Code, is amended | ||
by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to read as | ||
follows: | ||
(a) Except as provided by Subsection (a-1), the [ |
||
commissioners court of a county by order may impose an additional | ||
fee, not to exceed $10, for registering a vehicle in the county. | ||
(a-1) The commissioners court of a county that has a | ||
population of 1.7 million or more and in which more than 75 percent | ||
of the population lives in a single municipality by order may impose | ||
an additional fee, not to exceed $20, for registering a vehicle in | ||
the county. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2011. |
