relating to restrictions on activities a poll watcher may perform | ||
while on duty. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 33.058(a), Election Code, is amended to | ||
read as follows: | ||
(a) While on duty, a watcher may not: | ||
(1) converse with an election officer regarding the | ||
election, except to call attention to an irregularity or violation | ||
of law; | ||
(2) converse with a voter; [ |

(3) communicate in any manner with a voter regarding | ||
the election; or | ||
(4) use any device to produce or make an audio, visual, | ||
or audiovisual broadcast, recording, or photograph. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
